NetSafe Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 7, 2026  ·  Last updated: May 7, 2026  ·  Publisher: LinknWin LLC  ·  Contact: shan007@gmail.com

This Privacy Policy describes how the NetSafe browser extension ("NetSafe", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the extension on Google Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers.

Plain-language summary. NetSafe runs entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. Your browsing activity, settings, and filtered-site lists are stored only in your browser's local storage on your own computer. Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to export it.

What information NetSafe processes

NetSafe processes the following categories of data, all of which remain on your device.

Settings

The categories you enable for blocking, custom allow/block lists, your screen-time schedule, your administrator password, and feature toggles. Stored in chrome.storage.local.

Browsing telemetry

Aggregated counts of sites visited and sites blocked, broken down by category and time of day, used to power the in-extension dashboard. Stored in chrome.storage.local. Individual page contents are never read.

URLs of navigations

When you navigate to a website, NetSafe evaluates the destination URL against your active rules to decide whether to allow, block, or redirect to the in-extension block page. URLs are evaluated in memory and discarded; they are not logged off-device.

Pending access requests

When you submit a "Request Access" form on the NetSafe block page, the request (URL, your message, timestamp) is stored locally so the administrator can review it from the dashboard.

What NetSafe does NOT do

Permissions and why they exist

NetSafe declares broad browser permissions because effective web filtering inherently requires access to navigations across all sites. Each permission serves a specific filtering function and is described in the extension's listing on the Chrome Web Store. None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit data off your device.

Children's privacy

NetSafe is designed for use by parents, guardians, schools, and employers to filter content for users in their care, including children. Because no personal data is collected or transmitted, NetSafe is compatible with COPPA, FERPA, and similar youth-privacy frameworks when deployed in their intended supervisory contexts. Administrators are responsible for ensuring their use of NetSafe complies with applicable laws in their jurisdiction.

Data retention and deletion

All data lives in your local browser storage. Uninstalling the NetSafe extension or clearing your extension's storage from chrome://extensions permanently deletes all NetSafe data from your device. We have no copy to delete on our side because we never received one.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of NetSafe after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
